Patellar Tendonitis

Patellar Tendonitis or ‘Jumper’s Knee’ refers to pain felt behind the kneecap, where the patella (kneecap) it falls out of its usual alignment and rubs against the thigh bone. Aching kneecaps affect 25% of Australia’s population, but the injury is more common in athletes.

Activities where Patellar Tendonitis may become apparent are running, jumping and landing or squatting. Some high intensity sports that can attribute to Jumper’s Knee include running, tennis, netball, AFL, soccer, volleyball, basketball, skiing and other jumping sports.
