Runner's/Jumper's Knee

Patellofemoral Syndrome or ‘Runner’s Knee’ is a common knee injury that affects everyone from young active people to the elderly. Pain is felt behind the kneecap, where the patella (kneecap) can fall out of alignment and rub against the thigh bone.

Aching kneecaps can affect about 25% of the population, but the injury is more common in athletes. Activities where Patellofemoral Syndrome may become more apparent are those that involve running, jumping, hard landing or squatting. Some high intensity sports that can attribute to Patellofemoral Syndrome include running, tennis, netball, AFL, soccer, volleyball, basketball, skiing and other jumping sports.
